Happy Independence Day Poem 2017

1.  Let's celebrate Freedom by promoting a
human rights culture in which
respect,dignity and equality
become a code for living.
this will be our role to
live up to the dreams
of 1947

2. Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been
broken up into fragments by
narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from
the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches
its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason
has not lost its way into the dreary
desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is lead forward by thee
into ever-widening thought and action-
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father,
let my country awake.

3. Better than Heaven or Arcadia
I love thee, O my India!
And thy love I shall give
To every brother nation that lives.
God made the Earth;
Man made confining countries
And their fancy-frozen boundaries.
But with unfound boundless love
I behold the borderland of my India
Expanding into the World.
Hail, mother of religions, lotus, scenic beauty,
and sages!
Thy wide doors are open,
Welcoming God's true sons through all ages.
Where Ganges, woods, Himalayan caves, and
men dream God -
I am hallowed, my body touched that sod

4. Is there ought you need that my hands withhold,
Rich gifts of raiment or grain or gold?
Lo ! I have flung to the East and the West
Priceless treasures torn from my breast,
And yielded the sons of my stricken womb
To the drum-beats of the duty, the sabers of doom.
Gathered like pearls in their alien graves
Silent they sleep by the Persian waves,
Scattered like shells on Egyptian sands,
They lie with pale brows and brave, broken hands,
they are strewn like blossoms mown down by chance
On the blood-brown meadows of Flanders and France.
Can ye measure the grief of the tears I weep
Or compass the woe of the watch I keep?
Or the pride that thrills thro' my heart's despair
And the hope that comforts the anguish of prayer?
And the far sad glorious vision I see
Of the torn red banners of victory?
when the terror and the tumult of hate shall cease
And life be refashioned on anvils of peace,
And your love shall offer memorial thanks
To the comrades who fought on the dauntless ranks,
And you honour the deeds of the dauntless ones,
Remember the blood of my martyred sons!

5. Not where the musk of happiness blows,
Not where darkness and fears never tread;
Not in the homes of perpetual smiles,
Nor in the heaven of a land of prosperity
Would I be born
If I must put on mortal garb once more.

6. Today is a time for fireworks and fun
But we shouldn’t forget its reason.
This is one of the most important days
of the entire summer season.
Today’s the day our nation became free
and the date of the country’s birth.
For so many years we have grown to be
one of the best countries on earth.

7. May the Indian tricolour
always fly high...
Warm wishes on..
the grand occasion of
Indian Independence Day!

8. My homeland is.......
I'm proud of living here
In peace and love we'll carry on
For a future without fear,
where children play,study and sing
Old people drop no tear
My country counts on me to build
I'll stay forever.
Happy Independence Day!

9. Fifty days of independence from you.
you that I am when finally I sleep.
Where colors blur into a muddy brown
and almond eyes are startlingly blue.
you are my context,my only clue.
How do you deny me when I am you?
Happy Independence Day!

10. Fireworks and cookouts
and time spent with friends.
Swimming and playing
the good times never end.
But last we forget
the reason for today
Let's all say it now
Happy Independence day!

11. Jump away with me into the lake of our childhood
picnics, teenage antics. We'll sink to the bottom where
our troubles rise with our air, the last of our breath
mingling like the bubbles we blew that fourth of
july-- your hand never leaving mine while we
swung plastic sticks through the haze of barbecue
smoke and beer breath. When the sun fell we
traded in our soapy wands for ones that sparkled
and sputtered and traced our names, intertwined,
in the air. Give me your hand as we share the final bubble
and shoot back toward the darkening sky.

12. Fifty days of independence from you.
You that I am when finally I sleep.
Where colors blur into a muddy brown
and almond eyes are startlingly blue.
You are my context, my only clue.
How do you deny me when I am you?
My tongue curls sounds that you have made.
My box is of stones that you have laid.
I love you and loathe you, my lost is yours,
Your home and mine are foreign shores,
Brown as a nut, and as bleached as afraid,
we are the monster that you have made,
Slowly, slowly the ignorant learn,
Look at us, look at us, we are a thing apart--
Like father like daughter, can't finish what I start.

13. India, my India, where first human eyes awoke to heavenly light!
All Asia's holy place of pilgrimage, great Motherland of might!
World-mother, first giver to humankind of philosophy and sacred lore,
Knowledge thou gav'st to man, God-love, works, art, religion's opened door.
O even with all that grandeur dwarfed or turned to bitter loss and maim,
How shall we mourn who are thy children and can vaunt thy mighty name?
Before us still there floats the ideal of those splendid days of gold;
A new world in our vision wakes, Love's India we shall rise to mould.
India, my India, who dare call thee a thing for pity's grace today?
Mother of wisdom, worship, works, nurse of the spirit's inward ray!

14.  How Can One Be Compelled To Accept Slavery?
I Simply Refuse To Do The Master’s Bidding.
He May Torture Me, Break My Bones To Atoms And Even Kill Me.
He Will Then Have My Dead Body,
Not My Obedience. Ultimately, Therefore,
It Is I Who Am The Victor And Not He,
For He Has Failed In Getting Me To Do What He Wanted Done.

15.  At the dawn of history India started on her unending quest, and trackless centuries are filled with her striving and the grandeur of her success and her failures. Through good and ill fortune alike she has never lost sight of that quest or forgotten the ideals which gave her strength.
Jawaharlal Nehru
Indian Declaration of Independence, on eve of independence, August 15 1947.

16. How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master’s bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done.
Mahatma Gandhi

17.  Long years ago, we made a tryst with destiny and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge… At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.
Jawaharlal Nehru
Indian Declaration of Independence, on eve of independence, August 15 1947.

18.  We end today a period of ill fortune and India discovers herself again. The achievement we celebrate today is but a step, an opening of opportunity, to the greater triumphs and achievements that await us. Are we brave enough and wise enough to grasp this opportunity and accept the challenge of the future?
Jawaharlal Nehru
Indian Declaration of Independence, on eve of independence, August 15 1947.

19. Mother, I bow to thee!
Rich with thy hurrying streams,
Bright with thy orchard gleams,
Cool with thy winds of delight,
Dark fields waving, Mother of might,
Mother free...

20. Independence Doesn’t Mean Freedom,
It Means Cherishing Democratic Rights,
Living Freely In The Human Kingdom,
Never Ever Forget Our Freedom Fights…
